  2. APPG publishes report into medicines shortages pharmaceutical_services

    The All Party Pharmacy Group has published the report of its 2011 inquiry into medicines shortages. The inquiry called for all stakeholders in the medicines supply chain including pharmacy bodies, manufacturers, wholesalers and government departments to provide both written and verbal evidence.

  3. Drug tariff simplification - July 2012 pharmaceutical_services

    The Department of Health (DH) has released preliminary information concerning stage 2 of the drug tariff simplification process which includes, among other things, changes to the way out of pocket expenses are dealt with. The changes are due to be implemented in July 2012.

Better joint working between the NHS and the pharmaceutical industry

PCC has published recommendations for more effective joint working arrangements between the NHS and the pharma industry, including the creation of a national database of case studies and improvement of the joint working toolkit published by the DH and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry.

Reference guide to primary care amendments

A comprehensive reference guide for contracting staff completing the audit and working on the stabilisation of primary care contracts during the transition to the NHS Commissioning Board. The document brings together in one place all the statutory instruments used to amend primary care medical, dental and eye care contracts since 2004.

QIPP and lean running dominate the operating framework

The operating framework contains few surprises. Managing the NHS’s finances remains a top priority and CCGs are warned to expect a running cost allowance at the lower end of the range suggested in last year’s operating framework.
