Emergent Practice in primary care

Since 2005, we have been collating examples of good practice in primary care. The project was originally designed to identify the change levers that were transferable. The work has broadened and now includes a wide range of examples of emergent practice.

Permission to publish the examples has been sought where possible but should you have any concerns or queries about the information contained, please e-mail us at editorial@pcc.nhs.uk

Working in Partnership Programme also has a database of good and emergent practice. To access the WiPP database click here.

Social marketing in the East of England

At the launch event of the Primary and Community Care Strategy in July 2008, Ben Dyson encouraged PCTs to look to social marketing as a tool to inform local primary care commissioning intentions and service redesign.  In the East of England, West Essex PCT has applied social marketing principles to understand the social and cultural context in which challenging health behaviours take place which can then inform commissioning decisions.  NHS West Essex has written an overview and presentation about social marketing illustrating how the PCT has used the technique to benefit patients.

The overview is here.
