Community pharmacy contractual framework funding settlement 2011/12
A letter from Director of NHS Finance, Bob Alexander, explains the overall settlement package agreed between DH and the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) in relation to delivery of the remaining elements of the CPCF for 2011/12.
Following publication of the ‘Cost of Service Inquiry’ report by PricewaterhouseCoopers in July 2011, the Department and PSNC are still working on reforms to the community pharmacy contractual funding arrangements. More details are available on the DH website.
The exposition book for 2011/2 has been released by DH. In summary this document details recurrent revenue allocations to PCTs. The sheet entitled ‘Allocations’ gives details of the allocations for pharmaceutical services for next year. Originally the plan was that these would become part of PCT baselines from April 2011 however this is not now the case. The book confirms that PCTs will receive an increase of 2.05% on last year’s allocation.
Bob Alexander, director of NHS finance, wrote to PCT chief executives on 15 March outlining the changes to the community pharmacy contractual framework funding from 1 April 2011. Further details on this will be released in due course.
The ready reckoner developed last year to support PCTs in the devolution of the global sum has been updated by DH and can be found at http://www.pcc.nhs.uk/devolving-the-global-sum-ready-reckoner
