You may be aware of the recent announcement about the use of monovalent Pandemrix H1N1 vaccine for vaccination where there is a localised shortage of the trivalent seasonal flu vaccine as explained in the recent CMO letter of 6 January.
In light of this the Department of Health have asked that the clusters in the current QOF indicators relating to flu vaccines are modified; additional READ codes have been added to include pandemrix (and relevant contra-indications).
The relevant clusters are FLU_COD and TXFLU_COD and relate to :
CHD ruleset
COPD ruleset
Diabetes ruleset
Stroke ruleset
Please note that these changes apply to the 2010/11 QOF only and as such from April 2011, coding for the seasonal flu indicators will revert to seasonal flu only.
