CIP pricing errors payment

CIP pricing errors payment – April 2009 to March 2011

DH has announced a payment package to take account of prescription pricing processing errors related to the CIP for the period 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2011. Full details are in Part XIVB of the October 2011 Drug Tariff which also sets out the arrangements for contractors to request a check of a month or months' prescription forms if they think their payments processed through the new NHS Prescription Services payment system during this period have been significantly affected.

The first CIP compensation payments were made to pharmacy contractors who meet the qualifying criteria for CIP compensation payments for the period 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2011.  The payments were included in the Itemised Prescription Payments (IPP) report for October 2011 released in December. These payments are included in Elements for which Resources have been Centrally Retained and have been fair shared across all PCTs.  This is the first of two potential payments which are being made to contractors.

A second payment will be made to contractors who meet the qualifying criteria for CIP compensation payments for the period 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2011 and who chose not to request a recheck, the deadline for which was 31 December 2011. The payments were included in the Itemised Prescription Payments (IPP) report for January 2012 released in March. These payments are included in Elements for which Resources have been Centrally Retained and have been fair shared across all PCTs.
