NHS Primary Care Commissioning has just released a new Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) Management Guide. It will be available to NHS PCC subscribers only.
The first of three volumes, released today, is a simple iterative guide to QOF, function and purpose. It explains the background to QOF but also the changes introduced with the 2009/10 GMS contract agreed in October. Volume 1 poses questions about the success of QOF to date, the growing emphasis placed on clinical indicators and its future prospects.
Volume 2, to be released later this month is an in-depth guide to developing and delivering a robust QOF assessment process. This volume provides guidance on information management, including the use of tools for analyses of NHS and public health data.
Volume 3, to be released before year-end is a guide to each individual QOF indicator, with best practice and individual indicator assessment tips. It discusses specific problems which have arisen in the assessment process and offers solutions to overcome these issues where possible. It further provides a narrative description of the rule set and illustrates prevalence. This volume benefits from direction from an experienced team of GP QOF Assessors drawn from across the UK.
While each document stands alone, collectively they form a comprehensive QOF guide with useful references, which will be regularly updated as QOF develops.
