Introduction of a 'specials' tariff
New arrangements for the reimbursement of specials will be introduced in November 2011.
Full details of the Specials Tariff will be published in the November 2011 Drug Tariff, however the Department of Health has released the following guidance on the new arrangements and initial list of specials which will be listed in the November tariff.
NPC guidance on prescribing specials
The National Prescribing Centre issued guidance on the prescribing of specials which will be of interest to PCTs, clinical commissioning groups and prescribers. As well as explaining what specials are it contains five guiding principles for prescribers to consider when deciding to prescribe a special.
