Strategic design issues

Once a project management structure has been established, the necessary stakeholders will be in place to enable the assumptions that were made a feasibility study stage to be reviewed and for the project to be verified as being needed, in accordance with local and national policy, and affordable.

This is an important step in the process and failure to undertake this review process could lead to blind alleys being followed later, with resulting cost and delay to the project.

There are a number of key strategic design issues to be undertaken, such as confirming stakeholder support, verifying legal issues and local authority planning. The order in which these tasks occur, and responsibility for them, depends on the procurement route selected, and so they are covered under this strategic section.
