NHS Employers and GPC agree changes to dispensing fee scale

NHS Employers and the General Practitioners Committee (GPC) have agreed changes to the dispensing fee scale, effective from 1 October 2009. The agreement includes a new mechanism to uplift the fee scale every year and splits it into two components of cost and pay. The changes will reimburse dispensing practices for the increased volume of items whilst limiting the 'profit' element and ensuring that any changes to 'profit' are comparable to the award for GPs through the Doctors and Dentists Review Body process. See NHS Employers website for more information including the full details of the fee scales for 2009/10.
