Value Improvement: Identifying Procedures of Low Value

This report for the QIPP Right Care programme lists interventions which are identified by primary care trusts as: ineffective, of limited value, or involve a balancing of risk/benefit for certain patients, or interventions which are reduced by primary care trusts. These interventions are currently being targeted as potential cost savings for commissioners. An analysis of potential savings across England is included.

A wide variation in approach and coverage is highlighted. The intention is to share this information with all other primary care trusts to realise the potential benefit.
